ยับยั้ง angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) ลดการสร้าง angiotensin II จึงขยายหลอดเลือด ลด afterload/preload และลดการคั่งน้ำผ่านการลด aldosterone; เป็น prodrug เปลี่ยนเป็น benazeprilat

ข้อบ่งใช้ · Indications

รักษา CHF (เป็น 1 ใน 4 ยาหลักร่วมกับ furosemide + pimobendan + spironolactone) และ proteinuric kidney disease; ลด proteinuria ในแมวโรคไตเรื้อรัง^{[2] [1]}

ข้อห้ามใช้ · Contraindications

ห้ามใช้ในภาวะขาดน้ำ, ความดันต่ำ, ตีบของหลอดเลือดไตทั้งสองข้าง; ระวัง hyperkalemia เมื่อใช้ร่วม spironolactone; หลีกเลี่ยงในสัตว์ตั้งท้อง^[1]

ผลข้างเคียง · Side effects

ความดันต่ำ, azotemia (ลดการกรองที่ไต), hyperkalemia; ตรวจค่าไตและ K+ หลังเริ่มยา^[1]

การติดตามผู้ป่วย · Monitoring

ตรวจค่าไต (creatinine, BUN) และ K+ ก่อนและ 3–7 วันหลังเริ่มยาหรือปรับขนาด^[1]
